Timeline

Financial aid is determined on a yearly basis; therefore, families must apply for financial aid each year. The calendar below begins with October of the year prior to the student's anticipated start date (i.e. students planning to enroll in Fall 2015 should begin the activities listed in October 2014). The calendar continues through the cycle for returning students.

October:

  • Apply to Lebanon Valley College - you will have your decision within 2-3 weeks.
  • Begin searching for outside scholarships - visit your high school guidance office, search the Internet, and visit a library for information.

January:

  • Plan to do your taxes as soon as possible - the FAFSA asks for information directly from your tax information.
  • The first day you can submit the FAFSA is January 1.
  •  Students whose FAFSA forms are selected by the federal government to undergo an additional process called verification will be further asked to complete and return a verification worksheet, copies of W-2 forms and if the family has not elected to use the IRS Data Retrieval tool when filing the FAFSA, to provide the Financial Aid Office with an IRS-issued tax return transcript. [Beginning with the 2012-13 academic year, federal regulations no longer permit schools to verify using photocopies of tax returns.]
February:
  • Complete the FAFSA - the priority deadline for new students to submit the required financial aid documents is March 1. FAFSA on the Web now offers families the opportunity to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to assist in completing some of the financial questions.  Families who have filed their federal income taxes electronically can expect to be able to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool two weeks after filing their income taxes.  The IRS Data Retrieval Tool will be available approximately 8 weeks after filing taxes for those families who do not file electronically.
