Associate Degrees

Through the Office of Continuing Education, part-time students may earn the associate of science degree in accounting, business administration, or general studies; or the associate of the arts degree in general studies.  

An associate degree may be earned by students who have been admitted through the Office of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education and who have pursued the degree through part-time study.

LVC will evaluate transfers of credit, however, 15 credit hours of the last 18 must be earned through LVC to receive an associate degree, which consists of a minimum of 60 credit hours. The 60 credit hours may be a combination of major requirements, general education requirements, and free electives, if needed. LVC reserves the right to substitute appropriate courses for those listed above.

Accounting | Business Administration | General Studies 


Associate's Degree with a major in Accounting

Degree Requirements:
Core requirements: ACT 161, 162, 251, 252, 353; BUS 130 (may be waived for prior work experience), 230, 285, 371; ECN 101, 102; and MAS 170.
Note: Students with extensive experience in business are excused from BUS 130.

General Education requirements: ENG 111, 112; one writing intensive course; one foreign language course; and one course from each of the following six areas:

Area 1: History or American Studies course
Area 2: ECN, PSC, or SOC (ECN 101 fulfills this requirement)
Area 3: BIO, CHM, PHY, PSY, or SCI (4 credit hour labs)
Area 4: Math courses (MAS 170 Statistics fulfills this requirement)
Area 5: Literature, Art, or Music course
Area 6: Philosophy or Religion course

Electives as needed to meet minimum total credits of 60.


Associate's Degree with a major in Business Administration

Degree Requirements:
Core requirements: ACT 161, 162; BUS 130 (may be waived for prior work experience), 160, 230, 285, 340, 350, 371; ECN 101, 102; and MAS 170

Note: Students with extensive experience in business are excused from BUS 130.

General education requirements: ENG 111, 112; one writing intensive course; one foreign language course; and one course from each of the following six areas:

Area 1: History or American Studies course

Associate's Degree in General Studies

Degree Requirements:
Core requirements: The Associate's Degree in General Studies requires completion of 33 elective credits chosen according to the student's interest and 28 credits from the general education requirements.

General education requirements: ENG 111, 112; one writing intensive course; one foreign language course; and one course from each of the following six areas:

Area 1: History or American Studies course
Area 2: ECN, PSC, or SOC
Area 3: BIO, CHM, PHY, PSY, or SCI (4 credit hour labs)
Area 4: Math courses
Area 5: Literature, Art, or Music course
Area 6: Philosophy or Religion course

Total minimum credits: 60
