Functional Description: The Director of Information Management Services is responsible for the use and management of the college's administrative information systems, and heads the Information Management Services group within IT Services. The Director of Information Management Services is a member of the IT Services management team that also includes the Director of Client Services, the Director of Technical Services and the Vice President of IT Services.
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Serving as chief system administrator for Colleague and Benefactor, the college's administrative information systems, and assuring data security and application security.
- Working with others in IT Services to assure adequate system security and properly executed backup and restore policies.
- Regularly evaluating the needs of all users of the college's administrative information and systems and recommending solutions and standards to meet those needs.
- Coordinating projects to implement services or functions needed by users of the college's administrative information and systems.
- Assuring adequate training of users of the college's administrative information and systems. In some cases, as in the use of Colleague and Benefactor software, this involves the full range of training from the development of the curriculum and training materials to the actual training itself.
- Assisting others IT Services staff members as needed in projects affecting users of the college's administrative information and services.
- Remaining current in the field of computing by regularly reading trade journals and attending workshops, seminars and other training sessions as required.
- Participating with others on the IT Services management team in long-range and strategic planning for IT Services.
Principal Internal Working Relationships: Students, faculty and staff.
External Working Relationships: Vendors.
Direct Reports: Database Programmer/Analyst, Database Specialist.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree.
