The Class of 2027 and new transfer students represent 18 states and five countries.

The LVC community anticipates the arrival of the largest number of new students in the College’s history—480 members of the Class of 2027 and 49 transfer students as of June 30. Coming from as far away as Australia and Alaska, the new group comprises more than 200 student-athletes, four full-scholarship John Bowman Allwein ’56 Scholars, and numerous performers who will be part of the 130-member Pride of The Valley Marching Band.

“I am proud of everyone at The Valley for their tireless work in recruiting this impressive group of scholars—from the personal connections made by our faculty, coaches, and the entire campus community to the financial aid team who provided generous aid awards and scholarships to make LVC more affordable for our incoming students,” said Edwin Wright, vice president of admissions. “New and upcoming Marketing and Engineering Physics majors, combined with our in-demand programs in Nursing, Speech-Language Pathology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and School Counseling, reinforce LVC’s culture of offering a wraparound supportive experience for all our students.”

Several incoming students are already on campus conducting student-faculty research, including seven Research First Scholars. The College’s Research First Program offers incoming LVC first-year students work with student-faculty research teams during the summer before their first semester on campus. Primarily offered to incoming Biology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Neuroscience, and Physics majors, opportunities exist for other majors too.

“I chose LVC because of the welcoming community and beautiful campus,” said Ethan Goss ’27, a Research First Scholar planning to major in Computer Science. “Receiving the Research First Scholarship helped cement my decision since I’m considering dual majoring in Environmental Science. Being in the lab this summer with Dr. [Douglas] Becker has allowed me to get a glimpse into what Environmental Science will be like before starting my first year.”

The Office of Student Affairs and other campus offices have numerous activities scheduled to help our new students succeed academically, socially, and professionally, beginning with a full day of academic preparation. There are also on- and off-campus service activities to help them connect, and fun events, including the LVC Game Night & Field House Frenzy, a social featuring The Royals cover band, and The Great DuBois Traveling Circus Variety Show, the world’s most unique two-person circus show.

LVC will be a hive of activity this upcoming semester, highlighted by the opening of the College’s New multi-million-dollar Nursing Facility in August and a visit from Rev. Dr. Bernice Albertine King, Esq., daughter of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in September. Rev. King is a global thought leader, strategist, solutionist, orator, peace advocate, and CEO of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (The King Center).
