Dr. Walter Choplick

Walter "Wally" Choplick ’12

Associate Director, Breen Center for Career and Professional Development

B.A., B.S., Lebanon Valley College; M.M., Messiah University; Ed.D., Concordia University - Wisconsin

After graduating from LVC in 2012 with a double major in Music and Music Education, Dr. Walter “Wally” Choplick spent nearly a decade teaching 7-12 Band in the Shenandoah Valley and Gettysburg Area school districts. Knowing he wanted to switch to higher education, LVC was an easy choice when he accepted a position as a Career Coach in the College’s Breen Center for Career and Professional Development in January of 2022.

“I remembered the welcoming environment and outstanding faculty from my days as an LVC undergraduate and wanted to give back to current and future generations of Dutchmen,” noted Wally. “I am privileged to offer individual advice to help students succeed personally and professionally after graduation.”

Wally, promoted to Assistant Director of the Breen Center in October of 2023 and then again to Associate Director in July of 2024, is pleased to report that everything distinctive he experienced as a student remains.

“The relationships and friendships I built at LVC continue. It was like no time had passed with the faculty and staff who mentored me as an undergraduate, and I remain close friends with many classmates. Plus, I now get to interact with everyone across campus, to ensure the success of our students. The students who visit my office are highly motivated to succeed in and out of the classroom.”

Wally adds a final piece of critical advice:

“Whether it’s your first semester on campus or you are a senior, never hesitate to reach out to our team in the Breen Center. You are not alone. Helping our students achieve their goals gives us great professional and personal satisfaction.”

Wally has remained a lifelong learner, earning a Master of Music in Wind Conducting and a Doctor of Education in Leadership, Innovation, and Continuous Improvement. He enjoys reading, going to the gym, skiing, listening to podcasts, and, of course, attending musicals.
