With an undergraduate double major in International Studies and Asian Studies, Ellen Raum’s passion for learning and experiencing the world has led her on numerous global adventures, including studying in Shanghai, China, and working as a College Counselor in Hefei, China, after graduation. She also taught English at the Shanghai Technical Institute of Technology.
“These experiences enabled me to grow individually and professionally,” said Ellen. “I learned how to connect with students and help them visualize their goals.”
Ellen returned stateside to her native Pennsylvania and began working in college admissions before arriving at LVC as a Career Coach in the Breen Center for Career and Professional Development in February of 2022. She was drawn to The Valley because of the appeal of working in a small liberal arts school and combining her skills to mentor students.
“I strive to be approachable, transparent, and a clear communicator to all our students,” said Ellen. “It is gratifying to provide one-on-one post-grad advising and see our students grow in confidence and ultimately achieve their dreams.”
In addition to earning her Master’s in 2020, Ellen enjoys serving students and learning herself along the way. She continues to study Mandarin Chinese and expand her knowledge of Esports and graphic design while spending time with her two cats, listening to podcasts, and playing video games.
