Lebanon Valley College Names Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
President James M. MacLaren announced the appointment of Dr. Felicia Brown-Haywood as associate vice president of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Institutional Success at Lebanon Valley College. In this new, cabinet-level position, Dr. Brown-Haywood will coordinate efforts to increase diversity within the campus community and foster a culture of inclusion and belonging.
A lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, Dr. Brown-Haywood forged a successful career working in Inclusive Excellence. She comes to LVC from Millersville University, where she has served as chief diversity officer and was responsible for strategic planning of Inclusive Excellence. She developed initiatives to ensure that underrepresented members of the Millersville community were supported and valued. Before her time at Millersville, she served at Penn State–Harrisburg, where she developed and executed programs to achieve equity on campus.
“LVC is committed to addressing equity gaps in student success and preparing students for global citizenship in a safe, inclusive community,” said MacLaren. “We welcome Dr. Brown-Haywood, along with her vast experience and contagious enthusiasm, to the LVC leadership table.”
“I am excited to join the Lebanon Valley College community,” said Brown-Haywood. “After interacting with members of the LVC community, it became clear to me that our goals and passion surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion through the lens of Inclusive Excellence are one and the same.”
Dr. Brown-Haywood holds a B.S. degree from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, an M.S. in counseling/student personnel from Shippensburg University, an M. Div. from Virginia Union University, and a doctorate in adult education and lifelong learning from Penn State. She is a licensed professional counselor, licensed mental health professional, nationally certified counselor, and scholar. Also an entrepreneur, she founded Harvest 3 Inc. LLC Counseling, Coaching, and Consulting, a team of therapists and life coaches committed to helping clients experience healing, growth, and change. She and her husband, Reginald, established a salon, Hairliners Harrisburg, more than 30 years ago. Among many awards, she has received the Women of Excellence Award from the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg, Mentor of the Year award from the Carlisle Chamber of Commerce, Community Woman of the Year from Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and Outstanding Service to Students Award from Penn State University.
She joins Lebanon Valley College on October 25, 2021.
