Alydia Marangoni Receives Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award
Alydia Marangoni ’22, a music and music education dual degree student, was named LVC’s recipient of the Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award. The award, established by the trustees of The Presser Foundation, honors exceptional students pursuing academic studies in music.
Selected by the music faculty, award recipients are determined based on a high level of academic and musical accomplishment and leadership and citizenship qualities.
As an LVC student, Marangoni participated in and held leadership positions in The Pride of The Valley Marching Band, Concert Choir, Symphonic Band, and Symphony Orchestra. She appeared as a student conductor with the Symphony Orchestra and joined Wig and Buckle Theater productions of Godspell and Bonnie & Clyde. Marangoni serves as an executive board member of LVC’s National Association for Music Educators Chapter 146.
She was inducted into the Sigma Alpha Pi national leadership honor society, Kappa Delta Pi education honor society, and earned LVC Dean’s List accolades.
Marangoni and several other music students co-authored an article with music instructor Michelle Barraclough titled Flute Tools in the Age of COVID-19: Examining Practicality, published in the December 2020 online magazine, The Flute Examiner.
After graduation, Marangoni plans to teach music at the elementary level or teach ensemble work at the secondary level while exploring graduate study programs.
