Medical Humanities
Learn the skills to help others and do well for yourself by contributing to the emerging paradigm of a holistic healthcare experience. Increase your chances for employability or graduate school acceptance by combining a solid foundation in science with soft skills like research, analysis, and communication. In LVC's medical humanities major, you'll learn the fundamentals of the liberal arts, from the natural sciences to languages (English or Spanish).
Medical humanities majors will have the flexibility to double major or minor in several disciplines, study abroad, or develop a personal interest. Adding a medical humanities major will help to make you more competitive for admission to medical school or other health professions graduate programs.
Learn More about the Program
You’ll be ready to bridge the gap between provider and patient, and between fundamental scientific knowledge and culture, to promote a holistic engagement for the increasingly diverse communities in their use of the healthcare system. Those who take the optional suite of classes in Spanish will develop the language skills to help meet the demands of a growing Spanish-speaking population.
Graduates who want to enter the workforce rather than attend graduate school will begin and succeed in various careers in healthcare, a rapidly growing and diversifying industry. A medical humanities degree can help prepare students for careers as varied as technical writing or management, from public policy to sales of scientific equipment.
