Lebanon Valley College Welcomes Newest Lifetime Vickroy Associates
Lebanon Valley College honored its newest members of the Lifetime Vickroy Associates at its annual Thomas Rhys Vickroy Society dinner on Friday, April 14, at the Hershey Lodge.
This year’s honorees include Susanne Harley Dombrowski ’83 and Francis M. Dombrowski; Jonathan Grote ’79 and Elizabeth Grote; Chester Q. Mosteller ’75 and Janet C. Mosteller; and Hilary Vesell, Esq.
Named after the College’s founding president, Thomas Rhys Vickroy, The Vickroy Society recognizes gifts of $1,000 and above given to the College by alumni, parents, and friends for any purpose during each academic year. Members of the Vickroy Society, including 430 donor households, generously provided more than $4.4 million in financial resources during the 2022–2023 academic year. These gifts sustain the mission of the College by providing resources to prepare our graduates for lives of learning, citizenship, and success. An integral part of the College seal, the laurel wreath is the symbol of the Vickroy Society. Lifetime Vickroy Associates are members of The Thomas Rhys Vickroy Society whose cumulative contributions to Lebanon Valley College total $100,000 or more during their lifetime, thereby demonstrating outstanding leadership support of the College.

Susanne Harley Dombrowski ’83 and Francis M. Dombrowski
Susanne Dombrowski enrolled in LVC’s “Weekend College” program in 1979 as a mother of young children and graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in business administration in 1983. Susanne passed the entire CPA examination on her first attempt in 1992 and has been a Certified Public Accountant in practice in Lancaster County. Susanne is principal and shareholder in Bazella Dombrowski & Company, CPAs. She is also CFO and shareholder of 12:34 MicroTechnologies, a company specializing in providing streamlined IT solutions with personalized service. The Dombrowskis have generously supported Lebanon Valley College through facility and scholarship support. Susanne and Frank directed major support to the Jeanne and Edward H. Arnold Health Professions Pavilion and established two scholarships to support LVC students—one for a nontraditional-aged student and the other for an accounting or business major. Most recently, Susanne and her brother made a commitment to the new nursing facility. The simulation suite nursing station and lobby will be named in loving memory of their sister, Linda M. Harley, R.N., B.S.N., M.S.N. Susanne has served on the College’s Board of Trustees since 2011 and chairs the Audit Committee. Susanne and Frank have three children—Katherine, Daniel, and Evalina.
Jonathan Grote ’79 and Elizabeth Grote
Jonathon Grote, Ph.D., earned his B.S. in chemistry from Lebanon Valley College in 1979. As a student, he was active in Alpha Phi Omega and college ensembles as a tuba player. Through engaging in student research with Dr. Karl Lockwood, Jonathan was inspired to pursue a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Indiana University. He retired as a senior research scientist for Abbott Laboratories. Jonathan and Elizabeth wished to leave a lasting legacy at The Valley by establishing an endowed scholarship. The Grote Chemistry Scholarship supports a sophomore, junior, or senior student at Lebanon Valley College majoring in chemistry and exhibiting high academic achievement and financial need. The Grotes also supported the renovation of the Neidig-Garber Science Center in honor of Jonathan’s mother, Barbara. The Grotes have two children—Diana and Timothy.
Chester Q. Mosteller ’75 and Janet C. Mosteller
Chester “Chet” Mosteller was an active and involved student and athlete at Lebanon Valley College. He was a member of the Math Club, Alpha Phi Omega, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also served as a Resident Assistant and co-captain of the golf and wrestling teams. He was inducted into the LVC Athletic Hall of Fame for wrestling in 1997. Chet earned his B.A. in mathematics from the College in 1975 and became a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist through the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans/Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is the founder and president of Herbein | Mosteller HR Consulting and has extensive experience in human resources. The Mostellers have supported The Valley with their time and resources for many years. Chet has volunteered with the Edward and Lynn Breen Center for Graduate Success for career events and as a reunion committee member. He joined the Lebanon Valley College Board of Trustees in 2011, having also served as a student trustee, and is chair of the Governance Committee. They have demonstrated their confidence in the College’s mission by directing the majority of their gifts to The Valley Fund, supporting the areas of greatest need at LVC, and strategic priorities like the Jeanne and Edward H. Arnold Health Professions Pavilion and Heilman Center renovations. Chet and Janet have two daughters, Kate and Amy, as well as two granddaughters and two grandsons.
Hilary Vesell, Esq.
Hilary Vesell generously entrusted 45 nineteenth-century American landscape paintings to The Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery at Lebanon Valley College. Now designated as The Vesell Family Collection, the paintings were given in honor of her late father, Dr. Elliot Vesell, who, along with his wife, Kristen, was a generous patron of the Gallery and had loaned work for several Gallery exhibitions. Along with the collection, the family also donated more than 400 books on American art that add tremendous scholarly context to the works. Dr. Elliot Vesell served 32 years as the founding chair of pharmacology at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and 22 years as assistant dean of graduate studies at the Penn State College of Medicine. He published more than 350 articles on pharmacogenomics and received many awards and honorary degrees, including an honorary degree from Penn State. He was highly regarded as a pharmacology scholar and a collector of American art. Hilary is a trial attorney focusing on family law matters and civil litigation. She has a B.A. in psychology and M.A. in clinical psychology from Columbia University. Hilary received her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law. She continues to support her family’s legacy through the Gallery with contributions to Friends of the Gallery and the Gallery Art Acquisition and Restoration Fund.
