Campus Communications
Effective communication is crucial during any emergency. Here’s how the College will keep everyone informed:
Privacy Note: Some details of critical incidents may be private or protected by laws (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA). We will balance privacy with the need to keep the community informed.
The College will use some or all the following methods to communicate during a critical incident:
- Text Messages
- Omnilert App
- Portal (MyLVC)
- Paper Signs/Digital Signage
- Beacons
- Door-to-Door
- Siren
- Social Media
- LVC Homepage
Note: Families, trustees, and alumni may also be notified when appropriate.
The College has a siren system on the roof of the Bertha Brossman Blair Music Center to notify students and employees of an imminent and/or immediate safety risk.
Testing Schedule:
- Bi-Weekly Test: Tuesdays at 11 a.m. (start of Common Hour)
- Semester Test: The CIEMT will conduct a test each semester, including the Siren Warning System and Omnilert Alert System.
Stay Safe:
- Remain in a safe location when you hear the siren.
- Consult the emergency information sources listed above for updates.
Follow Directions:
- If directed, move to a designated safe area.
Ongoing Updates:
- For non-critical incidents like weather or minor power outages, updates will be provided via email, Omnilert, social media, and other sources as needed.
