Versatility! That’s what come to mind when you hear Deb Orlando’s name. She arrived at LVC after a career that ranged from health and fitness to nutrition counseling and leadership. Starting as a Public Safety Officer working the overnight shift, Deb loved being an asset to students looking for assistance.
“Being able to point our students in the right direction was the highlight of my evenings. I loved working with them, so when a position opened on the academic side, I jumped at the opportunity to interact with the students much more frequently.
“My journey to LVC was driven by a passion for connecting and helping people. The College’s commitment to student success and community engagement paralleled mine, plus, I get to see our faculty invest in every student in our department daily.”
Deb, who volunteers with LVC’s Campus Connections Committee and has worked with students in the Dutchmen First Program for first-generation college students, is adding to her Exercise Science degree by enrolling in The Valley’s distinguished MBA Program.
“Seeing the College from the employee perspective and now the student angle, LVC stands out from other institutions because of its small class sizes, personalized attention, innovative programs, and concentrated support services. The close-knit community enables students to achieve academic and career success.”
Deb keeps busy outside work through her various hobbies and interests, including reading, traveling, playing volleyball, going to church, and volunteering. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their three children and loving and spoiling Mabel, their border collie.
