Dr. Murphy joined the faculty at Lebanon Valley College in 2015 as the Founding Chair of the Athletic Training Program and serves as an Associate Professor for the Athletic Training Program. He teaches courses in the Athletic Training and Exercise Science majors. His teaching interest areas include injury/illness diagnosis, contemporary issues in sports medicine, health psychology, and sport performance. Dr. Murphy has various research interests, including clinical education and improving patient care.

He previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sport and Movement Science at Salem State University (SSU), Mass. During his four years at SSU, he was instrumental in expanding the Athletic Training Program In addition, Dr. Murphy served as a Clinical Director and Clinical Education Coordinator of the Athletic Training Education Program.

Dr. Murphy has extensive clinical and teaching experience spanning more than 14 years. He has provided athletic training health care services in various settings, including sports medicine clinics, interscholastic, collegiate, and professional sports including the Boston Marathon.

Dr. Murphy received his Doctorate from the University of South Carolina in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training. He has a Master’s from Clarion University in Rehabilitation Sciences and Bachelor’s in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training from The Pennsylvania State University.
