Evelyn Colón
Culture of Philanthropy and Engagement Specialist
Evelyn Colón is a seasoned professional with a rich and varied career dedicated to advocacy, community engagement, and philanthropy. Over a decade, she honed her skills as a paralegal for a criminal defense attorney, where she championed the rights of individuals in the criminal justice system. This legal support and advocacy background has profoundly shaped her approach to her current LVC role.
Evelyn, the Culture of Philanthropy and Engagement Specialist, fosters a culture of giving and involvement and provides mentorship, guidance, and support to student leaders navigating their academic and social experiences. She also advises the Black Student Union and Latin Hispanic Alliance and trains and supervises the Valley Blue Coats, demonstrating her commitment to student development and diversity.
Her extensive volunteer work with various organizations inspired Evelyn’s transition to LVC, including her fundraising efforts with the WellSpan Good Samaritan Auxiliary. There, she was instrumental in raising funds for essential projects at the community hospital, where she started as a committee member and worked her way to president and a member of the board of trustees. Recognizing an opportunity to expand her skills and make a broader impact, Evelyn saw the opening in Advancement at LVC as the perfect transition to continue her fundraising efforts for current and future generations who will impact our community and beyond.
Evelyn’s favorite aspects of LVC are the students. She enjoys watching them grow, learn, and write their next chapters. Their journeys and achievements are a constant source of inspiration and fulfillment.
Her impact extends beyond her professional sphere. Evelyn was inducted into The Lebanon County Commission for Women’s 2014 Women’s Hall of Fame and was named one of Pennsylvania’s Most Influential Latino Leaders in 2018. These accolades celebrate her unwavering commitment to equality and empowerment. Her work with children and young adults continues to inspire, making her a beacon of positive community change.
Evelyn and her husband have two grown children, a daughter-in-law, and an amazing grandson. They are not quite empty nesters, as they share their home with Bianca, a six-pound Maltese. Evelyn’s love for her family is evident in her enjoyment of planning events, reading, and spending quality time with them.
