As a first-generation college student, Sarah knows that higher education can transform your life. As associate dean of student affairs, she helps facilitate a similar transformation for the next generations of LVC students. As a part of student affairs and the Title IX staff, her mission is two-fold: To defend student rights and hold them accountable for their actions. While in many cases Sarah works with a student on their worst day, she is passionate about helping them face any adversity to repair the harm they’ve caused, to someone else, themselves, or the community. At these times, powerful connections are made, and trust is built between the student and staff member.
Conflict resolution and conduct violations aren’t the only roles Sarah plays at LVC. She also oversees other student-oriented departments that at first glance, may seem like “the flip side of the coin.” Her work with student engagement, spiritual life, and service and volunteerism allows her to lead initiatives fostering student leadership, teamwork, and professionalism. She finds it fulfilling that she can be a part of the growth of healthy, well-adjusted adults.
Sarah earned her D.Ed. in 2023. Her dissertation explored the black student experience with conduct resolution in predominantly white schools. When Sarah does have free time, she enjoys reading psychological thrillers and listening to true crime podcasts. On weekends, she can be found working in her garden.
