Professional Development for Educators

LVC is a Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) approved ACT 48 continuing education provider.

Educators in Pennsylvania with a level I or II certification are required to pursue professional development to maintain their active certification status.

Educators must earn six credits of collegiate study, 180 hours of continuing professional education programs, activities, or learning experiences through a PDE-approved provider, or any combination thereof every five years.

Lebanon Valley College is a PDE-approved provider and offers credit and non-credit bearing opportunities for educators seeking to meet this requirement.

Certificate Programs for Professional Development

All programs fulfill ACT 48 continuing education credit. Graduate courses are offered online in seven-week accelerated terms throughout the year. Select in-person course options are available in the summer.

*Upon completion of Certificate courses, Pennsylvania educators are eligible to apply for the appropriate PDE endorsement through the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Register for a Professional Development Course as a Visiting Student

We strongly encourage you to complete your requests at least two weeks before your desired start. If you are within two weeks of when you would like to begin the program, don’t hesitate to contact graduateadmission@lvc.edu for assistance, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Visiting students are not considered degree-seeking. A student intending to matriculate into a graduate degree or certificate program should apply to the program. If you begin as a visiting student and decide to matriculate into a program, you may not take more than one course in a certificate program or two courses in a degree program before applying to the program.
