Accounting Accounting majors are in high demand. Many double-major, study abroad, or intern with nearby firms.
Actuarial Science Actuarial Science: LVC's nationally recognized program has placed nearly 100 percent of its graduates in high-paying jobs. Many alumni are company officers or consulting firm partners and principals.
American Studies American Studies majors explore many perspectives (including history, literature, religion, art, music, and science) of life and culture, past and present, throughout the Americas.
Art & Art HistoryArt & Art History students can travel to Paris for a first-hand exploration of the city's art, architecture, culture, and urban planning—with visits to Notre Dame, the Louvre, Versailles, and even the Paris sewers.
Biochemistry & Molecular Biology In the last 10 years, more than 40 of our biochemistry & molecular biology students have co-authored and presented research at regional, national, and international scientific meetings—an experience more commonly reserved for graduate students.
BiologyBiology students may go beyond studying the known to search for new knowledge. Professors' labs are right next to their classrooms.
Business AdministrationBusiness Administration: Students work with the Career Center, LVC Job Center, and faculty advisors to complete for-credit internships. Semester-long internship programs are available in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
ChemistryOver 70 percent of students who conduct research with chemistry faculty enter master's or doctoral degree programs.
Computer ScienceComputer Science emphasizes software development and helps establish paid internships, leading to a virtual 100 percent employment rate for LVC graduates.
Criminal JusticeCriminal justice majors get experience in law enforcement, courts, and corrections before they get the degree.
Digital CommunicationsDigital communications major Sean Deffley designed a site for LVC's Wig and Buckle that was named the best university or college theater club website in the nation.
EconomicsAmong other opportunities, economics students may study European business and economics during a four-week summer program at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands.
EducationEducation: From freshman year on, full-time education faculty serve as advisors to guide each major in the selection of appropriate courses to prepare for field practicums, student teaching, and a professional teaching position.
EnglishEnglish majors choose an area of concentration related to the language arts: literature, communications, theater, or secondary education.
FrenchFrench: Each fall, LVC students spend the semester immersing themselves in French language and culture in Montpellier, France.
GermanStudents can take an immersive approach to learning German language and culture in Berlin, Germany, or a four-week summer language and culture course in Würzberg, Germany.
Historical CommunicationsUnique to LVC, the major in historical communications prepares students of history to work for museums, magazines, and journals.
HistoryHistory majors often complete internships at law firms, public relations offices, newspapers and radio stations, museums and state archives, social service agencies, nonprofit organizations such as Common Cause, and political campaigns.

 


Individualized MajorIndividualized Major: Many LVC students design their own major with faculty support. Examples of recent individualized majors: biotechnology and business, chemistry and artifact conservations, environmental economics and policy, and mathematics of finance.
International StudiesInternational Studies majors and minors can choose between two concentrations: international affairs track or comparative culture track.
MathematicsAn LVC research group brings mathematics, physics, and computer science students together for research projects in quantum information science.
MusicThe music program features a student-centered cirriculum and ample opportunities to perform as a soloist or with campus ensembles.
Music BusinessFrom New York, Nashville, and across the country, music professionals come to campus each fall for LVC's Music Industry Conference. Music business majors organize and host the event.
Music EducationMusic education: Five semesters of fieldwork begin during the first semester of study.
Music Recording TechnologyMusic recording technology: Students in the Audio Engineering Society host LVC's yearly Unplugged and Live for Life concerts.
Open (Undecided)If you don't yet know what you are going to major in, you're not alone. In fact, an average of 12 percent of LVC's first-year students hold an open major, meaning they haven't yet decided what they want to pursue.
PhilosophyPhilosophy invites serious reflection on perennial issues; fosters and develops critical, analytical, and argumentative skills; and prepares students for the pursuit of professional degrees that require rigorous thinking skills.
Physical TherapyStudents in LVC's six-year doctoral program in physical therapy benefit from state-of-the-art classrooms, teaching laboratories, a research center, a therapy pool, and a fitness/aerobic center. They get ample hands-on learning experience working with LVC's hundreds of student athletes.
PhysicsStudents majoring in physics work closely with faculty and are encouraged to participate in summer research projects. The department maintains optics, atomic/nuclear, electronics, advanced physics, atomic force microscopy, and computational physics laboratories.
Political ScienceOne political science course culminates in the opportunity for students to participate in a European Union simulation in Washington, D.C.
PsychobiologyThe psychobiology program prepares students for graduate study and careers in fields including neuroscience, behavioral genetics, medicine, animal behavior, and more.
PsychologyTypically, at least 7 out of 10 psychology students publish research in professional journals or present findings at conferences.
ReligionOver the past year, the religion department has sponsored a series of interreligious dialogues, a Christian concert by Fireflight, and a regular meeting of the "skeptics club."
SociologySociology student Heather Aurand presented her study at the Pennsylvania Sociological Society, winning the undergraduate poster award for her research on the effects of overseas study on college students.
SpanishLVC Spanish majors learn by teaching when they work with local elementary school kids in after-school Spanish language programs.
TEACHING CERTIFICATION
Early Childhood EducationEarly Childhood majors receive intensive training in the content and methodologies of all elementary school subjects, focusing on PreK through Grade 4. This is a new program – reflecting recent guidelines from the PA Department of Education and LVC.
Music EducationMusic Education majors prepare for PA music certification in PreK-Grade 12 and spend several semesters in the field prior to full-time student teaching in the senior year.
Secondary EducationStudents persuing secondary education certification combine a departmental major with required education courses.
Special Education (PreK-Grade 8)The special education is a dual major program for students completing a primary major in early childhood education.

MINORS, CONCENTRATIONS

American Studies American Studies is a versatile minor concerned with all aspects of American culture—from language to politics to music.
CommunicationsCommunications: Students who take courses in public relations, journalism, and writing for radio and TV can turn an unrelated major into a media specialty.
Law and SocietyLaw & Society: This interdisciplinary minor, which introduces students to the American legal system, can be valuable to students applying to law school.
TheaterWig and Buckle gives theater students the chance to hone their skills in three major student-directed productions each year.
COOPERATIVE PROGRAMS
EngineeringWith three years at LVC and two at any accredited engineering school, a student in this 3+2 program may earn both a B.S. from LVC and an engineering degree from another institution. LVC has cooperative agreements with both Penn State and Case Western Reserve universities.
Medical TechnologyLVC students prepare for a B.S. in medical technology by spending three years on campus and one year working and studying in a hospital with an accredited school of medical technology.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL AREAS
DentistryDentistry: A student in any LVC major can enter medical or dental school as long as core math and science requirements are fulfilled. The Health Professions Committee advises and helps prepare students for medical and dental school admission.
LawLVC graduates have attended some of the nation's top law schools including Harvard, Chicago, Columbia, Stanford, Washington and Lee, and William & Mary.

MinistryStudents interested in ministry can earn credits through an internship with the College Chaplain to explore the field of chaplaincy within the context of higher education.
Veterinary MedicineVeterinary medicine: As an LVC student, Jared Pitt earned credit for an internship at a local veterinary office. He is now attending vet school at Tuskegee University.

Master of Business AdministrationThe MBA program at Lebanon Valley College is designed to educate business generalists for leadership. Master of Music EducationThe Master of Music Education Program equips you with ideas and technologies that you can immediately apply with your students in your music classroom. The structure of our program provides an exceptional opportunity to learn from your peers—music teachers like you—with real classroom challenges and solutions.
Master of Science EducationThe Master of Science Education program at LVC produces leaders for schools, the state, and the nation. The flexible structure of the program allows you to self-design a course of study based on your individual interests.
Doctorate of Physical TherapyThe curriculum for the Doctorate of Physical Therapy is based on the current accepted evidence for practice and guidelines of the leading professional organizations in the field and is enriched by outstanding clinical placements.
