Assessment at LVC
Assessing student learning and institutional effectiveness are top priorities that serve two critical purposes: accountability and institutional improvement. Documenting achievement of institutional and strategic goals best positions the College to improve and allocate resources, assuring stakeholders that it fulfills its mission.
Student learning is a fundamental aspect of effectiveness, and assessment efforts demonstrate how each unit contributes to student achievement.
The process of effective assessment (displayed at right) is cyclical—ongoing and systematic—leading to institutional renewal and demonstrating the value of an LVC education.
Rigorous assessment practices produce evidence supporting the College’s number two ranking in U.S. News & World Report’s “Great Schools, Great Prices” in the North category. They further reveal the College’s commitment to providing an education that helps students acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values necessary to live and work in a changing, diverse, and fragile world.
