LVC Student Builds Business Skills Through Summer Internship at DHL
Elizabeth Waltersdorff ’25, a Business Administration and Marketing double major with a minor in Management, recently completed a summer internship with global logistics company DHL. Building upon a strong foundation from LVC, she gained hands-on experience in startup development, data analytics, and leadership.
At DHL, Waltersdorff collaborated with fellow interns on a capstone project focusing on startups and the launch of new startup locations. She then presented her work at DHL’s Internship Capstone Event in Ohio, where she had the opportunity to network and showcase her skills in front of senior executives and business partners.
Waltersdorff attributes much of her success to the support from Dr. Treva Clark, Eugene C. Fish Distinguished Chair of Business, who connected her to the opportunity and helped her refine her presentation skills and résumé. She also says the leadership and communication skills she developed through LVC’s Business program prepared her for this real-world experience.
“My classroom work at LVC enabled me to present in front of business partners confidently,” she said.
In addition to her DHL capstone project, Waltersdorff attended various classes throughout the internship, covering leadership, data analytics, and programming. These classes gave her a deeper understanding of the logistics industry and prepared her for a potential supervisory role in the future.
Looking ahead, Waltersdorff envisions herself working in an environment that pushes her to think critically, learn continuously, and lead teams effectively.
“My career goal is to find myself in a working environment that challenges me and allows me to lead a group of people to the best of their abilities,” she explained.
As for her Business major peers, Waltersdorff advises: “Obtaining another major or minor. Adding to the Business degree sets you apart and gives you a broader range of knowledge.”
